英汉小句主位结构的信息分布有相似之处,但更多的是差异,而N ida的功能对等原则可以用来实现英汉小句的等效互译。当英汉小句的主位结构信息分布出现差异时,在英译汉中译者应适当改变英语的主位结构以符合汉语的表达习惯,首先实现信息结构的对等,然后达到功能对等。

Similarities exist between English and Chinese clauses in terms of information distribution of thematic structures, but differences between them apparently occur in many aspects. As a result, Nida＇s principle of ＂Functional Equivalence＂ can be applied to achieve the effective translation between English and Chinese clauses. When differences arise in the information distribution of English and Chinese clauses, the translators are supposed to alter the English thematic structures to realize the information equivalence and therefore achieve functional equivalence.
