日本著名学者铃木大拙曾在其著作《禅与日本文化》中写道:"离开了佛教,我们就无从谈论日本文化。"可见日本文化所受佛教思想影响之深远。而佛教思想中,对日本文学和日本文化影响最为深刻的,可说是禅宗的思想。禅宗思想对日本文学,尤其是对日本特有的文学体裁——俳谐的影响,可说是日本文学史上不可或缺的重要篇章。

Japan＇s renowned scholar ,Suzuki Daisetsu, said in his book 《Zen and Japanese Culture》 that ＂Without Buddhism, we can not talk about Japanese culture. ＂ We can see from it that Japanese culture is in the deep influence of Buddhism. And in Buddhism, what influced on the Japanese literature and Japanese culture most deeply, can be said is the idea of Zen. The influence of Zen Thinking on Japanese literature, especially on the unique type of literature in Japan - Haiku, can be said to be an indispensable chapter in the history of literature.
