摘要
模糊限制语不仅具有模糊语义的作用,而且在某些特定语言中,如新闻英语,还可以增强语言的精确性,提高话语的准确度。本文以68篇美国ABS新闻稿作为研究对象,探讨模糊限制语对增强新闻英语准确性的作用,还对新闻英语中使用模糊限制语的原因进行了分析。
Hedges are double- edged. On the one hand, they may act as vague language. On the other hand, they can modify wording precisely in journalistic English. Based on 68 ABS news reports, this paper explores hedges in the latter sense.
