There are various themes in the 20^th entury English pastoral poetry, all centering on great concern for their tradition. This concern represents itself in two ways ： some poets are to preserve and rescue the remaining tradition, and others express a strong nostalgic mood. The poets hope to achieve the goal of preserving tradition by recollecting, exploring and recording the elapsed and elapsing good days.
