严复和中国近代许多精英知识分子一样,十分重视教育的启蒙作用,他是中国近代社会开启民智的最重要的人物之一,其科学教育思想的贡献和价值主要在于:突出以科学教育为中心的新知识,期待德、智、体全面发展的真国民,并为之描绘了科学教育近代化的新蓝图,他的科学教育思想给后人很多启示。

Like many elite intellectuals in modem Chinese history, Yah Fu attached great importance to the enlightening function of education and he is one of the most important figures who enlightened the people in modem Chinese history. The contributions and value of his educational ideas mainly lie in highlighting new knowledge centered round science education, expecting all-round deveveloped citizens and drawing a new blue-print for modem science education. His education ideas provided a lot of enlightenment for later generations.
