Syntactic Derivation of Location-Circumposition in Chinese

框式介词是汉语中的一个重要语法现象。在分析汉语方所框式介词的基本句法要求的基础上,在MP框架内运用广义左向合并原则讨论了汉语中的方所框式介词的生成过程。框式介词依然是以前置词为中心词的介词短语,其后置词有句法的强制性要求,在词性上仍然是名词;作为附加语,框式介词可以从不同的位置(如TP、VP或vP)通过合并操作进入句法位置,这种句法移动的原因是主动词提升以核查其强语素特征。

Circumposition is an important phenomenon of Chinese grammar. Based on the analysis about syntactic demand of location-circumposition in Chinese, the essay, applying the Principle of Generalized Leftward Merge （PGLM） , conducts the generation process of circumposition within the MP framework. Circumposition, whose postposifion, naturally a noun, is an obligatory syntactic demand. And thus it is still a PP headed by a preposition. As an adjunct, circumposition can enter different syntactic positions through merge operation through different syntactic positions, such as TP, VP, and vP. The reason for syntactic movement is the raising of main verb to check its strong features.
