Comparasion of the cultural differences between Chinese and western compliments

通过对比研究的方法,从英汉恭维语的功能、表达形式、英汉恭维语的回应以及涉及的对象与话题四个方面分析了英汉语对"恭维"这种言语行为实现模式的差异,指出造成差异的文化根源,对这些文化差异的认识将有助于人们有效地提高跨文化交际的能力。

By analyzing the different patterns of＂compliment＂in a comparative way,this paper points out the cultural causes for the differences in terms of functions,forms of expressions,ways of reply and topics between the two compliment sets,which helps people understand the cultural differences better,hence to improve their intercultural communicative competence.
