A Brief Contrastive Study on the Progressive Aspect in English and Chinese

进行体作为动词体概念的主要方面,是英语和汉语语法中的重要部分。本文通过对英汉进行体的对比,分析其异同,以加深理解并正确使用。

As one of the verbal aspects, the progressive aspect constitutes an important part both in English and Chinese grammars. This paper aims to analyze the similarities and differences through a contrastive study in order to have a better understanding and correct usage. The English and Chinese progressive aspects have different constructions. The comparatively simple objective semantic features of the Chinese progressive aspect form a contrast with the complicated subjective semantic features of the English progressive aspect.
