Brown&Levinson提出的"面子"理论认为人际交往中,人们都会采用各种策略来维护自己和他人的面子。面子包括积极面子和消极面子,是每个人意为自己争取的公共自我形象,其意义具有普遍性。《阿Q正传》中讽刺的巧妙运用和面子机制的运行有不可分割的联系。通过对文中讽刺案例的分析,着重探讨鲁迅先生如何运用面子来成功实施剧中情景的讽刺效果。此外,面子在这部小说中不仅对人物情节的刻画起到推波助澜的作用,对文章主题的揭示更是起到了不可磨灭的强化作用。

The theory of Mian Zi put forward by Brown ＆ Levinson is quite influential. Every member in society would try to save his or her face , i. e. to establish pubic self-image , either positive or negative. ＂Story of AQ＂ is an example of combination of satire and MianZi mechanism . This paper focuses on the discussion of how LuXun managed to attain satirical effect in character portrayal by means of MianZi.
