汉语方言研究的回顾和展望

对中国传统语言学的分支——方言学,自西汉扬雄直到建国以来的重大研究成果作了回顾,展望了21世纪其研究在拓宽范围、向纵深发展之后的前景,指出方言研究工作者所应担负的历史使命。对方言研究的经验作了总结。最后指出方言学应跟音韵学、训诂学、词源学、文字学、文化学、历史学和数理语言学等相衔接,并将古今打通,南北打通,汉语和民族语言的研究打通,尤其要加强汉藏语的比较研究,用新的方法、新的理论、从新的方位和角度去开创研究的新局面。

A retrospect of great achievements in dialectology a branch of traditional Chinese linguistics since Yang Xiong in West Han Dynasty till the founding of the People＇s Republic of China is made. Prospect of the foreground after the widened scope and further development of its studies is displayed. The historical responsibilities of language workers are discussed. Experience in dialectical studies is summarized. It points out that dialectology should go with phonology, exegesis, etymology, philology, culture, history and mathematical linguistics, connecting ancient studies with contemporary studies, north with south, language of the Han with that of Minorities. The comparative study of the language of Han and Tibet should especially be reinforced, and open a new situation with new methods, new theory, new orientation and new angle.
