With the development of modem captialism, money plays an important role in social life. Remarks on the social signifi- cance of money could be found in writings of most classical social theorists. Through the analysis of money thought in classical social theory, here is a conclusion that money is not a mere economic problem, but contains more complicated social, cultural, class and spirit elements.
