On the selection of main engine rated power for motor ships

在船舶设计中，应根据不同用途和不同性质的船，以及不同的使用条件，合理选择和使用柴油机的额定功率。本文提出了柴油机使用功率确定与修正应考虑的因素，并介绍了一种国外设计中选定船用主机功率的新方法。

In designing the ship, it is improtant to properly select the main engine rated power according to the ship mission and operation nature as well as its operation conditions. In the paper the factors need to be consid ered in defining and modifying the operation rating for the diesel engine. The paper presents also a new method developed overseas for the purpose.
