柳氏的诗词创作,在总体上流露着浓郁的孤独感与漂泊感,其中又有一股脱尘拔俗的奇气引人注目。其形成原因,无疑与当时江南的政治经济文化背景、当时社会的风气习俗以及柳氏本人的个性、心态、成长环境和生存状态紧密相连。明末江南一带发达的商品经济、活跃的政治气氛、纵情任性的文化思潮等,蕴育了奇女子柳如是,加之狂逸不羁的反世俗个性、高标独蹈的精神气质,最终形成了她独特的诗词美学风貌。

The poetry and songs by Liu Rushi peculiarly express, in general, the profound loneliness and aimless drifting. This is closely related to the current political and economical background in the southern China, as well as the personality, mental status, environment and living existence of the poet. It is argued that the well developed commercial economy of the southern China, active political atmosphere, and the willful cultural mainstream all nurture Liu Rushi as a rare woman poet with rebellion, nobility, and her specific aesthetic features.
