Abstract Infrared reflectance spectra of nano SnO 2 with different annealing temperatures have been measured in the wave number region 900 100 cm -1 by Fourier transform infrared spectrometers. When the annealing temperature is below 673k, the reflectance bands in mid ir region (900 400 cm -1 ) differ significantly from that of samples with higher annealing temperatures, indicating a large amount of lattice distortions in nano SnO 2. The far ir reflectance bands (400 100 cm -1 ), however, show that the nano SnO 2 retained the main features of rutile structure.
