Abstract Raman vibration bands of Methyl Orange (MO), an amphiphile with a Schiff base group, in the adsorbed state in bilayer aggregate were assigned. Raman features of the membrane depend on the structure of the aggregate, but are too weak to be seen in the mixture system. The vibration bands of MO in adsorptioninduced aggregate state differ from those of individual MO molecule, and are confirmed through the resonance enhancement and the effect of increasing the temperature. The spectral differences are used to analyze the adsorption and aggregation dependence of MO on bilayer surface.
