Abstract Schiff base, derived from 2 chlorobenzaldehyde, 4 chlorobenzaldehyde and alanine (C 10 H 9CINO 2K·H 2O,2 CAK),(C 10 H 9CINO 2K·2H 2O,4 CAK) have been synthesized for the first time. The adsorbed states in silver colloid of them were determined with FT RS and SERS. It was found that these compounds are adsorbed on the Ag surface through the carboxyl oxygen atoms and adopt upright conformation. The adsorbed state of the schiff base shows chemical adsorbed feature.
