Abstract In this paper we have studies methyl thiourea (MTU) and 1 Ally1 2 thiourea (ATU) coadsorbed with ClO - 4 respectively at Ag electrodes. The SERS intensity time profiles show that the intensities of the different SERS bands have surprisingly different response rates to the potential step. The response rates of the group of the adsorbed species which is very near to the electrode surface is faster. The results also indicate that MTU is vertically adsorbed on Ag electrode surface via the S atom, while ATU is adsorbed via the S atom with the molecule leaning fowards to the surface.
