This paper analyzes the conflicts between humanity and divinity in The Thorn Birds and Voss. The former exhibits them by focusing man＇s outward secular desires while the latter lays great stress on his inward evil and weakness. The two novels both have vividly pictured the conflicts which ended with humanity＇s resumption as the solution.
