美国从建国之初就非常重视公民教育,至今已有二百多年的历史,其实践探索值得研究。美国公民教育的基本理念是培养美国人对美国文化和国家的认同感,使之与整个社会结合成一个团结而统一的整体,从而造就具有国家和民族意识、公民意识的共和国公民。而此理念实现的有效途径是公立学校。

For over 200 years, the civic education has been given considerable attention since the foundation of the United States. The basic concept of the civic education is to train the Americans to recognize the American culture and the country, to unite together with the nation, and develop a sense of the Amurican citizenship. The concept is effectively realized through public schools.
