On the Narrative Strategies of American Post-Modern Novels

美国后现代主义小说打破了自亚里士多德以来的叙事原则,不仅颠覆了小说这一艺术形式,而且也解构和颠覆了小说的叙事策略,无论在形式上还是在语言上都导致了传统小说及其叙事策略的解体。虽然传统的叙事策略衰竭了,取而代之却是后现代主义小说的叙事策略。后现代主义小说的叙事策略主要表现为:错乱零散化、非线性化、荒诞化、重复性和悖论性。

American post-modern novels break the narrative principles since Aristotle. And they not only subvert the art forms, but also deconstruct and subvert the narrative strategies, leading to the disintegration of traditional novels and their narrative strategies both in form and language. The exhausted traditional narrative strategies are replaced by the narrative strategies of post-modern novels. This paper explores five narrative strategies of American post-modern novels, that is, fragmentation and disorder, non-linearization, absurdity, repeatability, and paradox.
