On the Relationship between Christianity and Science: Galileo's Trial Re-examined

当科学与宗教间关系的重要性为学者所重视,但对其复杂性的认识不够。把宗教和科学的关系放到具体的真实事件中去看待,不放过细节与广阔的社会背景,来理解科学与宗教的复杂关系,避免简单地评价相互关系,这是我们从伽利略事件中得出的必要的结论。

The importance of the relationship between science and religion has drawn much attention of scholars, who, however, have not made adequate understandings of its complexity. We should associate the relationsh＇ip between religion and science with concrete events, not allowing any detailed and broad social background to slip out, in order to understand the complex relationship between science and religion and avoid simply evaluating interrelationship. This is the necessary conclusion of what we can draw from Galileo＇ s trial.
