Diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) is considered as one of the most common chronic complications of diabetes. We still do not understand its pathogeneses and also lack safe and effective therapeutic methods. Mitogen -activated protein kinases (MAPK) is an important transduction pathway in signals transmitted from extracellular to intracellular, and also plays a crucial role in neuronal plasticity. In diabetes, hyperglycosemia is considered as the main pathophysiologic basis of DNP by activation of MAPK signal transduction pathway along with other factors and by both constructral and functional modifications in neuronal plasticity.
