抗日战争时期,在中华民族成员开始形成民族共同体一体意识之际,知识阶层开始了对中华民族更高层次的自觉。他们通过对中华民族概念的解释,理性地探讨了中华民族的范畴,中华民族共同体的一体及其认同依据、中华民族的结构。尽管知识阶层对中华民族是由"一个"还是"多个"构成的存在争论,但这些争论和探讨却丰富了中华民族概念的内涵,证明了中华民族结构的独特性,推动了中华民族意识的深入发展。

The Chinese intellectual stratum became self-conscious of the higher layer of Chinese nation when the members of Chinese nation began to form the awareness of the national community during the Anti-Japanese War. They rationally explored Chinese nation＇s categories, the unification of Chinese nation＇s community and its foundation of identification and Chinese nation＇s structure through comprehension of the concept ＂Chinese nation＂. Although the intellectual stratum argued that Chinese nation＇s construction was ＂one＂ or ＂more＂, these arguments and exploration enriched the connotation of the concept ＂Chinese nation＂, proved the individual quality of Chinese nation＇s construction and advanced the development of Chinese nation＇s consciousness.
