In terms of literary creation, it is no doubt that China has a long tradition of prose writing, which has a deep influence on the contemporary prose writing both in contents and forms. Prose writing is a style that em- bodies the psychic pursuit of the author. After a careful analysis of the contemporary prose, the author of this article thinks that the psychic pursuit of contemporary Chinese intellectuals includes the pursuit of shouldering responsibility, of improving personality, of appreciating life and of subliming aesthetic taste.
