1840年前后中日近代海防思想比较研究

On Comparison of Modern Coastal Defense between China and Japan around 1840

在1840年前后,由于西方列强的入侵,中日两国的先进分子都意识到了近代海防的重要性,他们著书立说,提出了两国历史上前所未有的近代海防思想。随着两国海防思想的兴起、发展、成熟,两国的命运却截然不同,最终日本在甲午战争中击败清朝。中国近代海防思想在萌芽期就被日本超过,失败的种子在初期已被埋下。

Because of the invasion of the western powers around 1840, the advanced people of China and Japan were aware of the importance of modern coastal defense. They wrote books and put forward unprecedented thought of modern coastal defense. With the rising, developing and maturating of the thought of coastal defense of the two countries, their fates were absolutely different. And at last, Japan defeated the Qing Dynasty in 1894. By comparing the ideas of coastal defense of the two countries, we can find that Chinese modern coastal defense was exceeded by Japanese just when it sprang up and doomed to be defeated at the initial stage.
