欧化问题的再思考

Reflections on Europeanization of MMC(Modern Mandarin Chinese)

文化的交流必然导致语言的互动。中国文学得益于欧化,中国语言更是如此。"五四"时期,白话文取代文言文为现代汉语构建了一个雏形,发展至今,现代汉语已日臻完善,其中在很大程度上得益于对西语词汇、语法和表达法的借鉴。然而,汉语的欧化必须控制在汉语可容性机制之内,否则将会导致恶性欧化,污染祖国语言,影响国计民生。

Cultural exchanges bring about interaction between languages. Both Chinese language and Chinese culture Benefit from Europeanization, a massive borrowing from European languages, mainly English. During the May Fourth Movement in 1919, Vernacular Chinese replaced Literary Chinese, the dominant writing style since long ago, and became the leading writing style out of which Modern Mandarin Chinese grew. The perfection of MMC owes much to the lexical and grammatical borrowings from English. However, Europeanization of MMC must be kept within the acceptability of its linguistic mechanism. Otherwise,it will follow that our mother tongue misshapes and the well-beings of the whole nation deteriorate.
