Research on the Relationship between Governance and Upgrading in Global Value Chains

在对全球价值链治理和升级分析的基础上,探讨了治理对升级的影响及其动态性,并进一步讨论了全球价值链下发展中国家企业升级的内外部条件、升级路径的多样性及结果的不确定性,指出嵌入全球价值链不会自动实现升级,企业的努力和政府的支持是必不可少的。

The theory of global Value chains provides a new research perspective into the production patterns under the background of economic globalization. This paper examines how governance affect upgrading in global value chains and its dynamics based on the research on governance and upgrading respectively. Then the authors study the uncertainty of the upgrading trajectory and results under different internal and external conditions. The authors argue that upgrading will not be realized automatically by just insertion into global value chains. Firms＇ efforts and supports from government are necessary.
