Loyal to the Times and at the Same Time Transcending the Times:Zhou Enlai and the Chinese Diplomacy

中华人民共和国成立之后,周恩来领导外交工作长达27年。在他辞世32年之后,我们依然可以感受到他的巨大影响。在新中国步入国际社会的曲折过程中,周恩来的重大贡献是:确立了中国外交政策的基本原则,奠定了中国对外关系的基础和框架;精心维护世界和平,推动国际社会朝着公正和国家间平等的方向发展。改革开放以来,中国外交的发展在重大方面均体现出对周恩来外交的继承。

Zhou Enlai was at the helm of Chinese diplomacy for as long as 27 years after the founding of the People＇ s Republic of China and we can still feel his great influence even 32 years after his death. In the zigzag process of New China joining the international community Zhou Enlai made important contributions as he laid down the basic principles of Chinese diplomatic policy, set up the foundation and framework of China＇ s foreign relations, meticulously preserved world peace and promoted the development of international community in the direction of justice and equality among nations. Since the reform and opening up the Chinese diplomacy has inherited in all the main aspects the spirit of Zhou Enlai＇ s diplomacy.
