The main functions and features of the on-line pre-warning and decision support system for urban power grids are presented. In urban grids, the problem of power angle stability can be ignored, but the thermal stability problem is obvious. According to that, the system can be used to realize on-line check of the static security, voltage security, and relay settings of the power grid, and the pre-warning and on-line decision support function can be achieved in several aspects including equipment condition evaluation, power system dispatching, operating modes, and relay protection.
