This paper describes the component variation of the diatomitephosphate catalyst in the whole preparation process. XRD, titration and ion chromatography were used for the characterization of catalyst components, and the ion chromatography was first developed and used to phosphate catalyst. The following results were obtained: BPO4 was formed in mixing and extruding of the catalyst, and it was stable in the whole preparation process of the catalyst; a little of Si(H2PO4)4 was formed at 160~240℃ for 3 h, with the reaction between polyphosphoric acid and diatomite; the SiP2O7 and Si3(PO4)4 were formed at 500~600℃ for 2 h, with the further reaction between polyphosphoric acid and diatomite, and Si(H2PO4)4 passed away; the hydrolysis of Si3(PO4)4 and SiP2O7 led to the increase of the freephosphoric acid, and the part of SiP2O7 changed into Si3(PO4)4 in steaming process.
