"最近"在宋代以前是偏正短语,主要用于表示空间距离最短;宋代开始向时间名词渐变,表示"说话前不久的一段时间"。"最近"的演变表现为一个短语属性不断弱化、词汇属性不断增强的词汇化过程。

Zuijin（最近） was a loose modifier-head phrase before Song（宋） Dynasty, expressing the distance or relation not far from each other. It evolved gradually into a noun in the Song（宋） Dynasty, denoting recently or soon. This paper traces this process of lexicalization of Zuijin（最近）.
