翻译根源于人类交流文化、传播文明的需要。翻译通过改造语言常可起到改造民族思维方式、塑造民族精神的作用。对中国思想现代转型的历史语境的透视,显示了汉民族对外来语词的仰重,而近代中国出现的外来词引入高潮,加速了中国思想的现代转化和对传统封闭文化的拒斥。在新时期汉语外来词接受中出现了音译方法的回潮,这不仅挑战了传统的语言观,也挑战了传统的思维方式;在给中华文化输入新的物质文明、精神文明的同时,进一步加速了中国思想的现代转型。

Originated from the human need of exchanging cultures and disseminating civilization, translation plays a vital role in reforming words as well as reconstructing national thinking mode. This paper has briefly analyzed the Chinese history of borrowing words from the other worlds and pointed out that loan words are ever increasing at every turning point of development. In terms of translation skills, transliteration is becoming more conspicuous and bears more significance in both enlarging the language bank and shifting the denotation of the existent vocabulary. By bringing news light to language itself, loan words contribute a lot to model a new way of thinking.
