Phthalic acid ester is a kind of plastication material, as time goes on, it will transfer from plastics to external environment, and now it becomes a widespread global environmental pollutant. On this paper, the physical and chemical properties, toxicity and carcinogenicity of phthalic acid ester, its effect on the environment, environmental behaviour, animal absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, etc. were presented. Finally, the toxicity assessment was also partially introduced.
