Diana, Goddess of the Moon, is rich in symbolism, whose images vary in different literary works. In most English poems of 18th and 19th century, Diana represents a noble and faithful sweetheart or lover, or a rebellious beautiful woman who pursues freedom and equality. But in O＇ Neil＇ s tragedies, the moon is the embodiment of solitary, evil, or soul of the deceased
