Storytelling Motif and Literary Creation of Karen Blixen

This paper studies Karen Blixen＇ s literary creation through a comprehensive analysis of the motif of storytelling in her major literary works. Blixen＇ s anecdotal literary way of presentation, as can be seen from her major works, is largely controlled by the oral tradition of storytelling as exemplified by Scherherzade of Arabian Nights. This study includes a comprehensive analysis of the following three aspects ： first, the motif of storytelling in Out of Africa ; second, the unique nature of Blixen＇ s storytelling; and third, the affect of storytelling motif on Blixen＇ s literary creation.
