The new novel Grass on the Plain by the famous scholar Peng Ding＇an is an epic masterpiece describing the fate and tough vitality of Chinese intellectuals. The growth of the intellectuals including individuals and their small circles was portrayed historically along with China＇s near half-century revolution from 1940s to 1980s to reflect the author＇s integrity, philanthropy and broad mind. The two major motifs “Recall” and “Revisiting old haunts” show the profound kinship and historical feelings consciousness of ecological protection, human nature keeping and appeal for it. The novel is full of poetic idea which shows Peng＇s own cultured style.
