摘要 加拿大英语受到原住民语言、移民语言和美国英语多方面的影响,很有特点。其拼写、词汇兼有英国英语和美国英语的特征,有些词汇的意义有所变化,语音有些独特的地方,但语法的差异不大。由于独特的环境和文化,加拿大英语形成了自己特有的语汇,一说有2200多个。无论看作是一种英语或仅仅是英语的一种变体,加拿大英语的形成,是语言接触导致语言变化的又一最佳例证。 Canadian English is unique in many ways, having been influenced by the languages of the aboriginal peoples and its immigrants, as well as by American English. Some words have developed senses different from those in its counterparts. Its spelling system and vocabulary feature both British English and American English. Its pronunciation system is peculiar in some aspects, but its grammar does not show much difference. Owing to the special environment and culture it is associated with, the English variety has developed more than 2200 Canadianisms, according to one source. Whether viewed as a variant of English or simply an English, Canadian English is an example that furnishes good evidence for the theory of linguistic contact.
