In his late years, Angels concentrated on the research into the history of primitive society, the German history, the history of the international labor movement, the history of religion and the methodology of the historical studies in light of the historical materialism. Engels formed the human historical evolution theory and emphasized the methodological principles concerning the theoretical study and the historical research. The paper discusses the view that Engels ＂perfected＂ the theory of historical materialism in his later years.
