浅析我国高校名称的结构及用词特点

Analysis on the Structure and Words Characteristics of the University Names Used in Our Country

以穷尽材料的方法,从社会语言学的角度,对当前我国高校名称作全面的考察,以期总结出其结构及用词特点。我国高校名称的结构可以分为通名和专名两大部分,通名用词有"大学"、"学院"和"学校";专名用词有表示办学性质、所在地或区域、投资创办者名称、伟人名称等7种情况。公办高校名称的专名用词比较单调,绝大多数是表所在地或区域、专业领域或培养目标的词语;民办高校名称的专名用词较丰富,往往加入表投资创办者名称、教育性质等词语。不管是公办还是民办高校,都以使用表示名城或大地域的词语为时尚。

By way of going through all possible materials, the author did an all-round sociolinguistic study on the university names currently used in our country so as to sum up the structure and character- istics of the words used in the university names. The structure of our country＇s university names consist of two main parts, namely, the general terms and proper nouns. The words used in general terms are usually ＂university＂, ＂college＂ or ＂school＂, while the proper nouns, falling to seven categories, often refer to the property, location, name of investor/founder of the university or a great person. The words used in the proper nouns in the names of public universities are often monotonously referring to names of location, special fields of study or objectives of education of the university. The words used in the names of independent universities are plentiful. The investor or founder＇s name, the educational property are often added into the names. Both public and independent universities consider using fa- mous city names or large regional names in their names as the order of the day.
