The Comparative Research Between Tian Yu Hua and Zai Sheng Yuan

《天雨花》和《再生缘》是明清弹词小说中的佼佼者。特别是《再生缘》在经过陈寅恪、郭沫若两位大师的推许之后,其在弹词小说中首屈一指的地位几成定论。可是,将它与《天雨花》作一比较,就会发现它在对社会生活和政治斗争的反映以及人物反抗性格刻画的深度和广度上,与《天雨花》相比还有一定差距。因此古人的"南花北梦"之说似乎更容易让人接受。

Tian Yu Hua and Zai Sheng Yuan are two of the great Tanci works in Ming and Qing times. With the Chen Yinque and Guo Morou＇ s admiration, Zai Sheng Yuan is considered to be the best one in the Tanci novel. But when it comparative with the Tian Yu Hua we will find that its reflection of social life and the political struggle as well as the portray of the revolts character in the depth and the breadth, far inferior the latter. Therefore Nan Hua Bei Meng seems to be more acceptable.
