摘要
姓名是社会结构中代表一种血缘关系和区别个人的标志符号。它带有某一民族的印记,与该民族的历史、宗教、文化传统、风俗习惯等密切相关,是该民族的语言和文化的一个组成部分。不同民族之间存在着种种差异,但往往又有许多惊人的相似之处,汉民族和英美民族的姓名就是这样。通过汉英姓名的结构及历史渊源的对比分析,可以使学习者了解中西文化中的一些差异,使其在语言学习中增强文化意识。
A name is a sign to identify blood bond and an individual. It is closely related to the nationality＇s history, religion, cultural traditions and customs and habits and it is a part of the language and culture of that nationality. In the human history, there are amazing similarities among nationalities although there are various differences. This article compares and contrasts some traditional names in Han nationality and English and American nationalities in terms of structure and history. The article aims to introduce the difference between Chinese and western cultures to English or Chinese learners and improve the cultural awareness in language learning.
