This article first made an analysis of the problem of competitive intelligence demands in national science and technology innovation, and then set forth in detail the role of science and technology competitive intelligence in national science and technology innovation. The author pointed out that science and technology competitive intelligence could provide basis to national science and technology strategic decision making, and was the key elements in national technology innovation, and it could show the development direction of high - tech industry. Also, it could provide strong support to the building of science and technology wanning system, and provide essential means to the building of science and technology security system. In the end, four S＆T competitive Intelligence service modes were brought forward to support national science and technology innovation activities.
