位于欧洲核子中心(CERN)的大型强子对撞机(LHC)将引领人类去探索万亿能标(terascale)的世界。几经周折,现在这台庞大的环状机器即将运转,利用这台机器,人们期待发现什么呢?这是一个举世瞩目的问题。LHC原本是为了发现希格斯玻色子而建造的,它是标准粒子模型中最后一种尚未观测到的粒子。希格斯(P.Higgs)本人坚信会发现这种粒子。但是,当两个具有万亿电子伏能级的粒子对撞的话。
Einstein's theory of gravitation,in some sense,is like a Trojan horse of ancient Greece.It predicts the changes observed in a distant pulsar with an accuracy of one part to 10^(-14),which is a generous gift.However,it allows for the possibility of interstellar travel through time machine which means the crisis lurked inside the horse.The past was what it was.Anyone cannot alter it and expects the experienced present still to exist.But not everybody is persuaded by these arguments against the possibility of time travel.If the scale of quantum gravity is of few TeVs, proton-proton collisans at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) could lead to the formation of wormhole. Maybe,a microcosmic time machine will soon be made in LHC.
