Chinese shipbuilding has a long history of at least 4,000 years. The last climax in shipbuilding was reached during the Ming Dynasty when a mariner named Zheng He led a large fleet and finished seven naval expeditions (around 1405 A.D.). As the twenty-first century began,Chinese shipbuilding commenced another boom,helped by the prosperity of the shipping market.
