Diabetic foot is the severe chronic complication of diabetes mellitus. The impairment of the topographic skin microcirculation decreases the skin oxygenation of the lower limb, and plays an important role in the development of the diabetic foot. Transcutaneous oxygen pressure(TcPO2) is a noninvasive method reflecting topographic skin microcirculation directly and can be used to detect diabetic patients at risk of foot ulceration and predict the healing of foot ulcers . TcPO2 tension also seems to be useful for determining the optimal amputation level, monitoring clinical progression and evaluating the therapeutic efficacy. Measurement of transcutaneous oxygen pressure provides valuable information for diabetic foot.
