A Study on the Name Translation of Cities’Traffic Signs in China Based on Language Planning

从社会语言学的语言规划角度对我国城市街道交通指示牌的翻译问题进行分析探讨,进一步明确了《汉语拼音方案》是我国城市街道罗马字母拼写法的法定统一规范和国际上认可的中国地名拼写国际标准。

Based on the theory of language planning in Sociolinguistics, this paper analyzes the problems of translating the names of cities＇ traffic signs in China into English. It makes clear that The Scheme of the Chinese Phonetic Alphabet is the legal standard in China and the established international norms in terms of the Romanization in translating the names of cities＇ roads and streets in China.
