湘语“细”兼有“小”义的真实面貌

The nature of"xi"(细)with the meaning of"xiao"(小)in the Xiang dialect

作为湘语典型特征词语之一,"细"的最大特点就是兼表"小"义,这是学界的一般看法。通过将湘语中的"细"与普通话"细"、"小"的义项分别进行对比,我们发现,湘语"细"并未完全兼有普通话"小"的所有义项,而仅仅兼有其中的四个义项而已。

As one of the typical words in Xiang dialect, the most obvious characteristic of ＂xi＂ （细） is that it also covers all the mean- ings of ＂ xiao＂ （小）. It is the common view in academic studies. A comparison of the meanings of ＂xi＂ （ 细 ） and ＂xiao＂ （小） in the Xiang dialect and in mandarin shows that ＂xi＂（细） in Xiang dialect does not cover all of the meanings of ＂xiao＂ （小） in mandarin. Actually, it only covers four of them.
