金初词坛由吴激、蔡松年独领风骚。吴、蔡的创作赋予金词以伉爽清疏的特质,形成不同于两宋的清劲风骨。吴、蔡的创作确立了金词史上第一个开宗立派的词体范式——吴蔡体,即清旷俊逸、萧散疏放的总体风格。其刚柔相济的手法熔豪放婉约于一炉,开一代风气之先。吴蔡体开启的金词特质可以弥补南宋词"文弱"之不足。

Wu Ji and Cai Song-nian were the most outstanding writers in the prophase of the Jin Dynasty of China. They created a unique style of Ci, which is greatly different from that of the Song Dynasties, featuring plainness and simplicity. Besides, Wu and Cai instilled a kind of ragged spirit into the Ci. Wu-Cai-style Ci blend extroversion with diffidence in a special way. The peculiar traits of the Ci of the Jin Dynasty made up the weaknesses of the Ci in the Song Dynasties.
