The Values on Righteousness over Benefit:the Choice of the Edification Values about Chinese Traditional Family and Clan Regulations

传统家训族规是中国古代官方文化和儒家社会意识形态普及化的一种重要教化方式。儒家"重义轻利"的道义论价值观深深地影响了传统家训族规的制定和内容,主要体现在两个方面:一是历代家训族规内容以思想道德教育为主;二是在众多家规族法中本身就包含着"重义轻利"等相关的训诫和规定。

The traditional family rules or clan regulations are an important way of education by which Chinese ancient official culture and the Confucian social ideology spread around the civil community. The Confucian view of justice and profit attaches great importance to the former over the latter, which has made a profound impact on the formulation and contents of the traditional family and clan regulations. It embodies two aspects. On the one hand, the traditional family and clan regulations lay emphasis on ideological and moral education. On the other hand, some admonitions or rules relevant to righteousness prior to benefit are included in most family and clan regulations.
