提出以与或树结构来描述手写汉字结构特征和笔划特征的方法，并以特征树之间的距离量度来判定特征树的匹配，从而达到识别汉字的目的。此外，使用与或树结构能够归纳出训练字的共性和差异，并对识别字典充实与完善。

After the features of its structure and strokes are extracted, a handwritten Chinese character can be described as an AND-OR tree. A method is introduced of recognizing handwritten Chinese charaters by calculating the distance between two trees. For the purpose ofrecognizing characters correctly, the recognition dictionary is improving by learning trainingcharacters.
